GAMES WON'T LAUNCH

Hello everyone,

When I launch a game, the game image goes fullscreen and, near my mouse, the cursor turns into a spinning circle. After a few seconds, the game doesn't launch, and I'm kicked back on the screen to choose the game (carousel). My PC specs are as follows: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-14900K, RTX4090TI. win11 64 retrobat 6.1

I don't understand... I used Retrobat in the past on my laptop without any problems. Here, I left everything on auto. I've tried with different emulators (for instance n64...changed from auto to every emulators available), configured a controller. I also installed the package from the support page (https://wiki.retrobat.org/tutorials/know-issues-and-fixes), but it doesn't change anything.

I've tried with and without the openCL gl vulkan compatibility pack for windows.

I'm going crazy... some help would be appreciated.

I can startproject 64 for instance and play the game from the emulator directly.

Hi,

Start by providing the emulatorLauncher.log file, maybe some data will help to understand the problem.

Otherwise maybe the installation went wrong on this computer, did you try a new installation in another folder to check ?

I have bitdefender but I ran the installer in Administrator mode and set exceptions.
Is it normal that in my emultors/project64 for instance... the emulator exe Is not there when doing à fresh install with version 6.1 stable. I remember the exe was there with version 5.0. If not normal, my guess Is Windows sécurity or biddfender Is the culprit but why...

If OK.... issue Is elsewhere. I really read and tried everything I found in this forum with no luck.

Hopefully the log you asked for will bring answers.

you should not install or run retrobat as administrator, this may cause problems.

I want to thank you both for your much appreciated support.
I really tried everything i've found on this forum (which i searched for similar issues) before coming forward with this issue.
I reinstalled retrobat on C and i didn't select run as administrator as you suggested.
I let everything on auto, just copied some n64 roms to give it a try.
Same issue (i select the game, image goes full screen, i see loading briefly and it goes back to the front end without any error message what so ever.

Given your explanation that a message should appear to install Project64 if i select it and its not there.... here is what i did.
I went in emulators/project 64. All i saw was a congig folder containing one config file.
I then opened retrobat (not in adminstrator) select this time Project64 instead of auto (log form above).
It didn't ask me to install P64.

Windows 11 pro 23H2 64bits
Antivirus : Bitdefender (no notification during retrobat installation and usage).
Intel I9 14900K
RTX4090
ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 DARK HERO
CORSAIR DDR5 (2x32GB)
SSD and M.2

If you don't have a download option, you probably have a problem during installation.

Have you installed the latest V6.1 from the official website?

You say you installed it on another PC and Retrobat works, maybe you can try copying your Retrobat folder from the laptop and pasting it on your computer to check if the problem persists.

Got version stable 6.1.
the installler worked fine on another latop on win11 64 as well using bitdefender too. it downlmoaded directX and other thing. Games launched with everything on auto.
I m now copying this installation on a usb but it will take a while froml what i see. Hopefully this works.
If it doesn i'm curious to understand what is causing the issue. This computer is very pwoerful compared to laptop.

I just installed it on my laptop again and it works just fine.
My laptop downloaded direct X and VB.

Now copying the files from my LAPTOP to a USB but it 's taking ages.
Will probably take ages to copy from usb to gaming PC as well.
Hopefully then, i can get retrobart working on gaming PC

Maybe it would go faster with network disk sharing, locally on RJ45 or recent wifi ^^

Apart from bitdefender, anything else running ? (Malware stuff, etc.)

Let me list here all things you'll have to try, Try a simple system like snes with "auto" emulator.
1) unplug ALL usb & bluetooth devices (except keyboard) and try again
2) try to run a game with bitdefender temporarily off.
3) send here the full emulatorlauncher.log file (attach the file, don't copy/paste the content)

Yes, remove all, we've seen cases where a bluetooth device was the issue

First of all, thank you. I really really appreciate.
I turned off bluetooth.
Removed all USB from my computeR.
Removed the VR headset including USB connection and displaypoirt connection.
I connected my mouse and keyboard via USB to computer.
Still same issue

Basically nothing happens, emulatorlauncher is not launched...

Can you share also es.log ?

You have not set to run retrobat as administrator ? (Because you should not)

Can you show me the folder with the Aladdin game along with the path ?

And in addition, can you check windows event log to see if there is a low-level error message or crash?

I found a file named es_log.txt

I was watching in windows logs yesterday and not application logs.

So the 2 errors encountered are the same on the 2 rom launch attemps

There must be something unstable on your computer

did not solve the issue.
It said it found corrupt file and fixed them successfully.

So you must have either an issue with hardware (ram unstability, other...) or faulty drive or corrupted .net software.
clr.dll is a core .net file, its failure shows there is an issue somewhere.

I tested hardware ok.
I just don't get it.
This is my gaming PC, it runs MFS2020 for hours....PUBG and so on
I uninstalled NEt and reinstalled...hopefully the right package.

I have both MFS2020 and MSI afterburner
I also used DLSS swapper for MFS2020.... but i guess this doesn't matter

Can you tell me more about these problematic and where i can read more about it?

Also, i once again removed all .NET programs. Is there one installer that installes them all? can i just install .net 8 and be ok?
