GAMES WON'T LAUNCH

Install 3.5 and 4.8

I have 6 installed now (it installed after restart for another software)
So when executing installer for 4.8 it tells me I have never and dont need it. Clicking on 3.5 exe. Nothing happens.
Réinstalled retrobat just now.
Same issue. I m curipus to read about mfs2020 causing issues...

Did you try on a new Windows session?

Personally when I start to have this type of problem I look around but I end up going back to a new installation of Windows or a Veeam backup.

I do not think that reinstalling windows will be the cure.
Especially since Tartifless wrote Retrobat had issue with MFS2020 and MSI AFTERBURNER which i was using and uninstalled. I kept MFS2020 as this my gaming/siming PC. I was hoping retrobat would run on it and i still have my hopes high to find a solution. I'm just curious as to why the exe won't start. why having MFS2020 would prevent emulatorstation to start. it doesn't make any sense to me. Where did you read MFS was causing difficulties Tartifless?
Also, i read from a user who had the same issue this The problem is that that chipset does not support Vulkan. so I discovered it's important for older Intel PCs to go into reotrbat.ini and set the default video output to d3d11 AND the sound to dsound.
My PC is very powerful and relatively new (14900K and RTX4090) so i don't think this is the issue here but i would be curious to see if changing the sound adapter could solve the issue. I didn't see the possibity to do so in BatGui.exe (where that user say he made the change). I suppose this option is not available with latest versions of rertrobat.

I have deactivated smartscreen...and am now installing Retrobat 5.1...let's see


So after turning off, once again antivirus but also this time smartscreen, the installed launched without this blue window.
I had the same issue as always.
I asked ChatGPT what he thought and he told me the error was most certainly a memory access denied.

I may be wrong but I m thinking that the issue I have might be related to security patches...but again...i can't forget that tartifless wrote that MFS2020 was causing difficulties.

I am just saying that based on similar issues research on the Web, these apps are known to have issues with clr.dll amd might be culprits.

I have a similar setup as yours also with windows 11 and no issues at all.

In any cased, computer is running awesomely...no issue what so ever.... I had an issue after i built it where computer would stop and i would get a watchdog, livekernel event 141 or so....so i did all possible tests (Mem, CPU, GPU...) you can think of, reinstalled..... everything is fine now as it was most likely my 4090 OC TI fan curve not properly setup... I thought default settings would work since i don't OC myself but appearently....it needed to run cooler due to spike causing it to freeze.
So i don't feel like reinstalling.

The last thing i'm curious aboiut is to what NET i should get.
Again, installing 3.5 wouldn't work, 4.8....PC told me didn't need to as I had 6.0 already.

You could try to uninstall .Net 6.0, to install others versions progressively. At least it couldn't be worst.

Problem solved, I gave up and reinstalled windows.
Did not install bitdefender.
Installed right away retrobat 6.1.
At first, kind of same issue as before except i had a messahe appear when trying to launch a rom saying
AN ERROR OCCURED
THE TYPE INITIALIZER FOR EMULATORLAUNCHER.PROGRAM threw an exception.
I then installed nvidia and boom, it launched
I could have MFS2020 working on the same time....
I'll add drivers and other software and check each type if it works so we find the culprit.
I"ll report back.

maybe try to make a windows restore point (or via a veeam), at least you should be able to go back if something creates a problem and the uninstallation does not correct it.

If Bitdefender is the culprit then there must be an option that is causing the problem. But in any case Defender Windows is enough... even though he's overzealous ^^ sometime

I tried that befote uninstalling but it kept failing because of antivirus (message from windows saying that).
I like to have bitdefender on my devices. i have a yearly subscription for 10 devices...
especailly for he ransomware....i feel it protects beter than windows built in firewall and antivirus but i could be wrong
